The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream appointment in the field of Engineering Leadership Education. The preferred start date for the appointment is July 1, 2016.

The Faculty welcomes applications from individuals with demonstrated excellence in leadership pedagogy and curriculum development, preferably in an engineering context. Applicants must have experience teaching within an engineering or science program and will have a PhD in engineering, education, or a related field, by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will be expected to teach concepts and applications of leadership in engineering classes principally in the undergraduate program. They will be expected to contribute to supporting the core engineering curriculum by enhancing students’ experience of and capability for working in teams and groups and their development as job-ready professionals. In addition, this position will work closely with the Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering (ILead) on the implementation of a broad range of co-curricular as well as curricular programming and related pedagogical research. This will include leading an integrative approach to leadership curriculum development across the four years of the engineering degree.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through strong teaching evaluations, letters of reference endorsing excellent teaching and commitment to teaching innovation, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application. It would be desirable if the applicant were eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
