Program Impact

This growing body of research includes program descriptions, evaluations and analyses of our ILead and similar engineering leadership education programs across Canada and the United States.

ILead Program Description & Evaluation

To date, this growing body of research has highlighted the wide range of programs developed at ILead. Of particular note is a co-authored paper tracing the institutionalization of ILead. Our unique institutional integration of programing, research and outreach was recognised by the 2014 Alan Blizzard Award for outstanding collaboration in university teaching enhancing student learning.

North American Engineering Leadership Program Description & Evaluation

This study examines the meanings of, and approaches to, leadership education in engineering across selected universities in the United States and Canada. Our findings suggest that engineering leadership education programs and initiatives differ vastly in their goals, the content taught and the pedagogical approaches deployed. We developed and utilized a seven-dimensional conceptual model to analyze the goals, leadership definitions, program structures, content and student participation in the programs studied. University administrators and faculty, curriculum designers and accreditation agencies can use this model to examine and evaluate engineering leadership education programs under their jurisdiction.
