Who You Are Matters!

The PhD Career Development Workshops and Events has launched! On March 30, 60 PhD students and post-doctoral fellows representing all engineering disciplines came together to explore ‘who they are’. Through a fun, interactive, guided process students clarified their unique strengths, influences, and what’s most important to them. The session culminated with the creation of a career statement that was refined through meaningful conversation with peers. Students walked away from the workshop with a greater sense of clarity about themselves as well as comfort in knowing there is a community of students wrestling with their plans post-graduate school.

The session is an initiative by the Vice-Dean, Graduate and Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering (ILead) to help PhDs and post-docs with their transition into the workplace. Between now and August 2017, they are hosting a series of workshops and events.
